DPS: 39 pounds of meth seized outside TucsonPosted: Updated:
TUCSON -- The Arizona Department of Public Safety says officers have seized 39 pounds of methamphetamine and 2.2 pounds of cocaine after a traffic stop on Interstate 10.
A DPS statement issued on Tuesday says officers arrested Carlos Buelna, 42, of Douglas after they found the drugs in a sedan they stopped about 27 miles east of Tucson.
Officers stopped Buelna's car at midday on Sunday and a search revealed hidden compartments filled with the drugs. He was booked into the Pima County jail on several drug trafficking charges.
The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $780,000. The estimated street value of the cocaine is $26,000.
