CHANDLER - The following is a release from the Chandler Police Department:

On 07/28/08 at approximately 8:50pm Chandler Police Officers were dispatched to 800 W Queen Creek Road in reference an unknown problem.

The initial call advised of two males running through the complex, one possibly chasing the other. As the first officer arrived on scene, he observed a gold colored Lexus SUV exiting the complex at a high rate of speed.

Feeling this was suspicious and connected to the call, the officer elected to make a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle yielded in the business complex located on the northeast corner of Queen Creek Road and Alma School Road.

The officer contacted the driver of the Lexus who was later identified as Raynon Jermaine Blackshire (32) aka "One Punch" (Blackshire is/was a professional boxer). The officer noted that Blackshire was sweating profusely and appeared to be nervous. Other responding officers to the call located another male subject that was shot one time and stated that Blackshire had shot him.

Blackshire then attempted to flee in his vehicle and drove behind the shopping center. The officer followed and with the help of assisting officers and a K-9, Blackshire was taken into custody. The victim stated that Blackshire attempted to rob him while in the vehicle and then shot him in the back with a small caliber handgun. The victim fled the vehicle and started to run though the apartment complex seeking help. When Blackshire was taken into custody the gun was not located and it was presumed that it was tossed from the vehicle when he attempted to flee. The area was searched by K-9s and the weapon was successfully located.

Blackshire was booked on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful flight, and being a prohibited possessor of firearms.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
