The following news release was sent by the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office:

On July 18, 2008, at approximately 8:30 A.M., a Yavapai County Sheriff's Office K-9 Deputy stopped a red Geo Tracker for speeding on the I40 east of Seligman. The driver told the deputy he did not have his driver's license in possession and provided the name "David Mills" along with a birth date.A male passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, identified himself as "Harley Jones." A record check of the "Mills" name revealed three returns for the name, but none of the physical descriptions matched. There was no information returned on the name "Jones" with the birth date provided.

The deputy explained to both occupants he was suspicious of the names they provided. While speaking with the driver, the deputy noticed the driver wore sunglasses which displayed marijuana leaves on either side and he also had a visible marijuana leaf tattoo. After detaining the two occupants, "Elliot" the K9 was deployed and alerted on the driver's door of the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a homemade "bong" (marijuana smoking pipe) containing a usable quantity of marijuana. Both subjects admitted to using the pipe earlier in the day. The deputy also found an unmarked metal container with Oxycodone pills which "Mills" claimed were obtained by prescription. A plastic container which held a syringe was found in the passenger side door panel.

The driver eventually admitted his true name was David Ray Crandall. He is 33-years-old and from Kingman, Arizona. He was arrested for Identify Theft, Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The passenger's true name was in fact Harley Jones, but he had lied about his true birth date because of two outstanding warrants. Jones is also from Kingman and 29-years-old. He was arrested for Identity Theft, Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.

Both suspects were booked at the Prescott Detention Center.
