CLARKDALE - Deputies in Yavapai County need the public's help identifying a man they found with stab wounds.
YCSO responded to a report of an injured adult on June 25 at about 11 p.m. on Tapco Road in Clarkdale. The injured man was found with knife wounds to his neck and arms. Deputies also say the man was wet so he could have been in the Verde River at some point.
The man did not have identification on him and was unable to recall his name, where he lives or how he got to Clarkdale during an interview. Deputies say he did say his wife and daughters had been killed by a drunk driver in New Mexico about a year ago.
After further investigation, deputies determined the stab wounds were self-inflicted.
The man is now at the Verde Valley Guidance Center in Cottonwood. He speaks English well and remembers family in New Mexico, Oklahoma and possibly Texas.
He is between 45 and 50 years old, weighs about 240 pounds and has black hair that is graying and brown eyes. The unidentified man also has a Celtic-type tattoo on his right shoulder. YCSO is asking anyone who may recognize the man to contact Sgt. Dan Winslow at (928) 771-3278.
