Flagstaff man injured in rappelling accidentPosted: Updated:
PRESCOTT -- A Flagstaff man is recovering after falling 25 feet Monday during a mountain rappelling class.
The accident happened on a rock face at Watson Lake Park in Prescott.
Authorities say Duncan Weed, 20, was teaching a group of girls at a youth camp various rappelling techniques when he suddenly fell straight down landing in a pile of boulders.
Prescott Fire Department rescuers reached Weed and placed him in a basket with a backboard. Rescuers eventually got him on a rubber raft and paddled over to a waiting ambulance.
Weed was later flown by helicopter to a Phoenix hospital.
