PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks have activated catcher Chris Snyder from the disabled list.

Snyder went on the 15-day disabled list on June 23 with a lower back strain. He was Arizona's opening-day catcher, but hit only .224 with five homers and 21 RBIs in 49 games before the injury.

Manager A.J. Hinch says Snyder will back up Miguel Montero, who is hitting .290 with nine homers and 31 RBIs.

In a corresponding move yesterday, the club optioned catcher Luke Carlin to Triple-A Reno.
