Montero has big hit in five-run seventh for DiamondbacksPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Miguel Montero doubled in the go-ahead run in a five-run seventh and pinch-hitter Chad Tracy capped the inning with a three-run home run to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks to an 11-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates last night.
The Diamondbacks' bullpen pitched four scoreless innings and retired all 12 batters it faced after Dan Haren had an off night, giving up four runs in five innings.
It was the National League ERA leader's shortest outing of the season and only the second in which he gave up more than three runs.
Mark Reynolds doubled to left field with one out in the seventh off reliever Evan Meek, and Montero followed with a double to right-center for a 5-4 lead.
Arizona was coming off a six-game road trip that produced just two wins.
Game 2 of the four-game series with Pittsburgh is set for 6:40 tonight at Chase Field.
Right-hander Yusmeiro Petit is scheduled to start for the Diamondbacks against Pirates left-hander Zach Duke.
