UPDATE Engine used for emergencies at Mayer H.S. is still missing

UPDATE -- June 17:

SPRING VALLEY, Ariz. -- The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office continues to search for the stolen diesel engine and suspects involved in the theft at Mayer High School in Spring Valley.

School officials have provided the following engine identification information: - Engine model number is 8x8x12 F8100 - Engine serial number is 06-1626-70

YCSO spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said school officials have not been able to identify a date that the engine was still in place on the campus but estimate the theft likely occurred within the last two months.

This engine was used to pump water in case of an emergency such as fire suppression.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact Detective Steve Surak at 928-771-3260 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232. Callers to Silent Witness become eligible for a reward if an arrest is made in this case.

SPRING VALLEY - Deputies in Yavapai County are searching for a diesel engine that was stolen from a high school.

It happened at the Mayer High School on Mule Deer Drive in Spring Valley at about 3 p.m. on Thursday.

The engine was reportedly mounted to a base inside a shed near the school's water tank. The 4-cylinder John Deere engine is worth over $25,000.

School officials are trying to determine when the engine was last seen. Deputies believe it was stolen within the last two weeks.
