Loomis armored car robbed
Police investigate armored car robbery - Tempe police officers are investigating an armored car robbery outside a Wells Fargo Bank.
TEMPE -- Tempe police officers are investigating an armored car robbery that happened about 10 a.m. Monday.
According to police, a Loomis employee was exiting the vehicle to make a bank deposit at a Wells Fargo Bank near Baseline and Rural roads when he was confronted by an armed suspect who demanded money.
The first suspect is described as a black male, with a thin build, approximately 5 feet 6 inches and 140 pounds with a clean-shaven face. He was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and light-colored shoes, and was armed with an assault-style rifle. The second suspect is described as a black male.
Katie McDevitt with the Tempe Police Department said the suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was injured, but the suspects are still on the loose.
McDevitt said a vehicle similar to one described by witnesses was found abandoned half a mile down the road. It is being processed for evidence.
