It started with a disturbance call in the area of Alma School and Broadway roads at about 11:00 Wednesday night.

Officers said that once they arrived on the scene, they saw two suspects driving away from a party.

The officers tried to pull the vehicle over, but a driver made a U-turn and slammed head-on into the squad car.

Investigators believe alcohol and drugs were factors in the incident.

What's more, the suspects apparently have a history.

"They had warrants out for their arrests, too, which might have also led to them not wanting to pull over for the police officers," Sgt. Corey Calkias of the Mesa Police Department.

Two officers and the driver of the other vehicle were all taken to the hospital. All of them are expected to recover.

The suspects, whose names have not been released, are behind bars.
