PHOENIX -- A Department of Public Safety officer is recovering after he was injured during a foot chase Monday morning.
According to DPS, Officer Marc Snyder responded to a reported broken-down pickup truck on Interstate 10 westbound near 24th Street.
It was reported that a group of suspected illegal immigrants was running from the vehicle.
DPS and Phoenix police were able to catch up with the group, but Snyder was injured while attempting to take a combative subject into custody.
Snyder was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for a broken collarbone and released.
Approximately 10 suspected illegal immigrants ran into the drainage ditch in that area. Twenty-two illegal immigrants are currently in the custody of ICE. One subject was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
