The following is a press release from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office:
PHOENIX -- County Attorney Andrew Thomas announced today that Carlton Don Anderson (DOB 5/18/80) has been indicted for allegedly leaving his four young children unattended in the family's Phoenix apartment while he stayed out all night.
On June 20th, 2008 a Maricopa County Grand Jury indicted Anderson on four counts of Child Abuse, class four felonies.
PHOENIX -- Phoenix police detectives made contact with the children's mother on Friday.
Based on the information provided by her and others, police say she will not be facing any charges. The father took full responsibility for his actions and claimed that the mother did not know that he was going to leave the children unattended.
The children remain with Child Protective Services and they will determine where the children will be placed other than with the parents.
The father, Carlton Anderson, made his initial appearance in court Thursday evening.
Court papers indicate he admitted to leaving the house around 8 p.m. on Wednesday to pick his wife up from a bar. When she refused to leave he then met a friend and began drinking with them until the early morning hours.
The wife has still not been located by police.
Neighbors say Anderson asked their 7-year-old daughter to baby-sit. The girl's mother said no.
