Flagstaff OKs $35M local stimulus packagePosted: Updated:
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- The City Council in Flagstaff has green-lighted what amounts to a local stimulus package.
The plan formulated by the city manager would inject nearly $35 million into the area's economy.
It includes accelerating a flood control program and a major streets maintenance program. The plan would also inject more money into new tourism marketing and offers a tax holiday for the purchase of fuel-efficient vehicles at local dealerships.
If all programs are funded, City Manager Kevin Burke estimates that the plan would generate 290 new jobs and $13 million in wages.
