Man robs Mesa shoe store, leaves in cab

MESA -- A man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly robbed a shoe store in Mesa.

Mesa police say the suspect entered the Payless shoe store near Main Street and Alma School Road and demanded all the money in the register. The suspect said he had a gun but never displayed one.

An officer was able to determine that the suspect possibly left the scene in a cab. The cab driver was located and said that he dropped a person that matched the suspect description in Tempe.

Police were able to find the suspect and take him into custody.

The suspect has been identified as Phillip C. Taylor, 60.
