22 yrs for woman who starved boyfriend's kids
TUCSON -- A judge in Tucson sentenced a woman to two concurrent 22-year prison terms Monday for her role in the starvation deaths of her boyfriend's children.
Reina Irene Gonzales had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of 3-year-old Ariana Payne and 4-year-old Tyler Payne.
Gonzales and her boyfriend, Christopher Payne, were arrested after the girl's decomposing body was found in a storage locker in February 2007. The boy's body has never been found.
Payne was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder in March. He was sentenced to death.
Testimony in the case showed that Payne locked his children in an apartment closet and starved them to death.
