ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- The 14th-ranked Arizona State men's basketball team will play Baylor in a second-round game of the 76 Classic tournament today in California.
The Sun Devils beat Charlotte 84-56 last night as Jeff Pendergraph had 23 points and 10 rebounds.
James Harden made all 11 of his free throws and scored 15 points for the Sun Devils, who never trailed and opened a season with four straight wins for only the third time in 22 seasons.
ASU shot a tournament-record 61 percent from the field.
Charlotte fell to 1-4, shooting just 34 percent from the field and committing 21 turnovers in its fourth straight loss.
The 49ers had dropped their previous three games by three points or less.
Harden was one of four players to score in double figures for the Sun Devils, who led 35-23 at halftime.
ASU will now face unbeaten Baylor, a 72-56 winner over Providence last night.
