PHOENIX - Three former detention officers are accused of submitting false overtime claims to beef up their paychecks.

A news release from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says Evan Vincelli, 28, allegedly got over $21,000 in false earnings. Sonja Schroeder, 26, allegedly received over $26,000 in false earnings and Joseph Costantino, 28, is accused of getting almost $9,000 with false attendance reports.

The Department of Corrections found the discrepancies in the payroll in 2006 and notified the County Attorney's Office in 2007. Detectives searched through evidence including bank records before handing up the indictments.

The defendants face charges of fraudulent schemes and artifices and theft.
