Man indicted in 2006 fatal wreck in SurprisePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - The following is a press release from the County Attorney's Office:
County Attorney Andrew Thomas announced today that an indictment has been handed up in connection with a September 2006 fatal wreck in Surprise that left three people dead an one person seriously injured.
Justin Draper (DOB 12/10/87) is charged with three counts of Manslaughter and one count of Aggravated Assault.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Surprise Police, Draper was travelling about 30 miles over the posted speed limit when his vehicle collided with another causing the deaths of the driver and passenger, along with a passenger in Draper's vehicle.
Another passenger in the defendant's vehicle was also seriously hurt. All of the victims were teenagers.
Evidence was carefully reviewed by prosecutors in the Office's Vehicular Crimes Bureau following an extensive investigation by Surprise Police. On June 25, 2009 Draper was indicted by a Grand Jury and he was arrested on June 30. Deputy County Attorney Aaron Harder is prosecuting the case.
Thomas stated, "We thank Surprise Police for working with our prosecutors so that charges could be brought against this defendant."
