Fundraiser held for newborn's family

MESA - The two Valley officers whose daughter was mauled by the family dog are getting some help from fellow officers.

The tragic incident happened more than a week ago at the family's home in Mesa.

The baby's mother reportedly put the infant in a bassinet and then left for a few minutes to use the bathroom when the dog attacked.

Fellow officers waited tables at Buffalo Wild Wings in Mesa and Scottsdale to raise money for the family.

Sergeant Fabian Cota of Mesa said, "Right now, we are just trying to lend what support we can financially and just being there for the family."

Buffalo Wild Wings works with the Mesa Police Department in a number of charity events.
