Police search for suspect who tried to rob armored vanPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Phoenix police officers are searching for a suspect who tried to rob an armored van late Friday morning.
According to Detective Cindy Scott, a guard was servicing an ATM at the Desert Union Federal Credit Union at 48th Street and Ray Road when he was approached by an armed suspect who fired one shot.
The guard was not hit, but the bullet hit a nearby SUV.
The suspect was hit by the van as he tried to stop it during the robbery attempt. He fled on foot, limping.
The suspect did not get away with any money.
He is described as a light-skinned black or a dark-skinned Hispanic man about 25 years old.
