A.J. owners won't be getting back neglected animalsPosted: Updated:
APACHE JUNCTION -- An Apache Junction couple who at one time had nearly 190 animals at their home won't be getting any of them back.
The animals were rescued in February in what authorities described as deplorable living conditions.
Apache Junction City Attorney Joel Stern now says he's forwarded the case to the Pinal County Attorney's Office for possible criminal action.
A judge, meanwhile, has ordered that none of the surviving animals will be return to the family. The ruling held that the family kept dogs, rabbits, chickens, goats, horses, cats, a pig,and birds in dirty, smelly conditions.
