UPDATE APRIL 17:

PHOENIX -- The U.S. Postal Inspection Service says a mail collection box that was stolen from a roadside in Sun City West has been recovered.

Postal Inspector Patricia Armstrong says the box was damaged but intact and contained mail. She said Friday that she wasn't certain but it appears that all the mail was recovered.

Maricopa County sheriff's deputies working on a lead in another case found the mailbox inside the garage of 41-year-old Brian Keith Smalley on Thursday night. Smalley and 29-year-old Rocky Dean Snyder were arrested in connection with the shoplifting case deputies were investigating.

Postal inspectors say the mail case has been referred to the U.S. attorney in Phoenix for prosecution.

The box was located at 18399 N. 128th Ave. Mail was last collected at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
