2 Men are dead after dispute over dog's shootingPosted: Updated:
MCNEAL, Ariz. -- The Cochise County sheriff's office says two men are dead and a third is facing murder charges after a confrontation that began as a dispute over a dog's shooting.
Deputies called to a home in the southeastern Arizona town of McNeal on Sunday night found 44-year-old Thomas Rand of Bisbee and 20-year-old Leonardo Rivera of McNeal shot dead.
The man who lived at the home reportedly told deputies that his neighbor's dog had gotten on his property and tried to bite him, so he shot and killed the dog. Darryl Howard Chenowth told deputies that's when the two men came onto his property and assaulted him with a wooden plank. The 51-year-old told deputies he shot the men and then called authorities.
He was arrested on two counts of second-degree murder.
