According to deputies, a man armed with a shotgun and another weapon showed up at the home near 213th Avenue and Patton Road early Thursday morning. Investigators said they believe the man, who reportedly was drunk at the time, is the boyfriend of a girl who lives in the home.

Neighbors reported at least two shots fired and quite a bit of commotion shortly after the man showed up. When deputies arrived on the scene, they were able to get two to three members of the family out of the house through a window. They believe that two victims were still inside.

According to MCSO spokesman Doug Matteson, the SWAT team did go into the house after negotiators spent several hours of trying to contact the gunman. They found the suspect in a back room. It's not clear if he was armed at that time. He did suffer some minor injuries. Deputies took him from the scene in a patrol car shortly before 7 a.m.

Matteson said detectives are talking to two other people who were in the home. It's not clear yet if they were hiding from the suspect or if they were actually part of the situation.

The mother of one hostage, said three people were actually held against their will -- a 19-year-old girl, an 18-year-old girl and a 9-year-old child. She said the three had locked themselves in a back bedroom.

Neighbors said they were evacuated early in the morning.

"I was sleeping and woke up to police at my door," said Mark Harrington. "They told me they were evacuating the whole street. We had to leave."

Deputies said they have taken the suspect, a 19- or 20-year-old man, into custody without further incident. They are currently checking the house to make sure everything is all clear.
