Young man found shot to death in car in Avondale, no suspectPosted: Updated:
AVONDALE -- Police are investigating a shooting that has left one young man dead.
The man was found shot to death in his car near 119th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.
Avondale police received a 911 call from a woman about 1 a.m., said Sgt. Todd Love of the Avondale Police Department.
Investigators said the victim is an Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s. He apparently was not carrying any identification.
Officers said the victim suffered a single gunshot wound. The car was on the side of the street in a new construction area.
Police said they're not sure if the shooting took place in the area or if the car was dumped there.
Investigators have not identified the victim, but 3TV's Javier Soto talked to a woman who believes he is her son.
"They tell me got shot in the head," said Diana Flores. "I just want to see my son. I just want to make sure that that's him."
She said she got confirmation from friends who called 911. Police, however, have not confirmed anything.
Officers are talking to the woman who reportedly made the 911 call to determine if she has any connection to the victim.
At this point, investigators don't know exactly what happened and do not have any information about a suspect.
The investigation is ongoing.
