Mohave County deputies nab Calif. murder suspect

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (AP) -- A California man wanted on a murder warrant was arrested early Friday after Mohave County sheriff's deputies stopped to check on a truck pulled over south of Bullhead City.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Sandy Edwards says 21-year-old Carl Joseph Oliver told deputies he had stopped on State Route 95 because he had dropped a chocolate pie on the floorboard of his pickup.

Edwards says a check showed the truck was stolen and that Oliver was wanted on a murder warrant issued in Fresno, Calif. and a parole violation.

Oliver was being sought by Fresno police in connection with a Nov. 20 shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead and his father wounded.

Edwards says Oliver and a female companion were in the area visiting relatives for Thanksgiving.
