Police seek suspect who shot man at actress' Scottsdale home

SCOTTSDALE -- Maricopa County sheriff's deputies are investigating a late-night shooting that landed one man in the hospital.

Home belongs to Maureen O'Hara

It happened shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday at a home near 136th Street and Rio Verde Drive.

The victim has been identified as Conor FitzSimons, 38. Neighbors confirm that he is the grandson of actress Maureen O'Hara, who starred in "Miracle on 34th Street," and "Rio Grande."

According to Lindsey Smith of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, a person knocked at the door and asked to use the phone.

FitzSimons answered the door went to get a cordless phone. When he returned, he was shot.

The suspect took off and is still on the loose.

FitzSimons was air-lifted to the hospital. He reportedly is in serious condition.

Smith said there was another person at the home at the time of the shooting.

According to the victim's pest-control guy, somebody broke into the home a few months ago.

At this point, investigators do not have any suspects in the shooting, nor do they have a physical description of the suspect.
