Public reaction to move

UPDATE: Announced Wednesday morning Tim and Willy will replace Dave Pratt in the morning show slot on KMLE.

The two will take to the airwaves on January 5.

ORIGINAL: PHOENIX -- Dave Pratt's highly publicized move from rock to country airwaves came as a surprise five years ago, but his sudden departure on Thursday came as a shock to longtime listeners.

Some reactions from people 3TV spoke with - "I can't believe it. I thought he was doing so well on the show!"

Jim Bailey put it, "Bad decision -- he's a Valley icon."

It's been the talk of the Valley's country music world since KMLE Country management confirmed on Thursday that "Dave Pratt is no longer broadcasting at KMLE. We've made a change and KMLE is going in a different direction."

In a written statement to 3TV, Pratt said, "My entire crew was surprised to learn that our morning show would no longer be on the air at KMLE. I was very happy on KMLE, and our morning show enjoyed a 6 year run of success. Sincerely, my heart is with all of my listeners facing job cuts and economic challenges, especially during the holiday season."

Now the question is....who will take over one of the top-rated slots in morning radio?

Erin Corcoran says "Tim and Willy!"

The popular duo left the Valley's other big county statio, KNIX, last January under similar circumstances and call themselves free agents.

KMLE Country management wouldn't comment on who will take over Dave Pratt's early morning gig.
