Cottonwood man booked for assaulting deputyPosted: Updated:
COTTONWOOD, Ariz. (AP) -- A Cottonwood man was arrested after officials say he pushed and tried to punch a deputy with the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said Monday that deputies were responding to a reported family fight at 12:45 a.m. Thursday.
As the deputies were looking for the fight, D'Evelyn says a man from a nearby home cursed at them and told them to get off his property.
Later the man pushed a deputy and tried to punch him. The deputy pushed and punched the man, who was then arrested without further problems.
The man, identified as 49-year-old Timothy Gundelach, was booked into Camp Verde jail on a charge of aggravated assault of a peace officer.
Deputies never found the family fight that was reported.
