UPDATE: Maricopa police investigating body found in wash

UPDATE OCT. 24:

MARICOPA -- The 31-year-old man, who had recently moved to Maricopa to live with family, had been reported missing on Oct. 20.

His body was discovered by a Maricopa citizen who was cutting through the Santa Cruz wash on her way to a nearby school on Oct. 21.

Maricopa police detectives, in cooperation with the Pima County medical examiner, have ruled the death a suicide.

The name of the victim has not been released.

MARICOPA - The following is a release from the Maricopa Police Department:

On Tuesday October 21, 2008 at about 7:40 AM, the Maricopa Police Department received a call to do a welfare check on a subject in the Santa Cruz wash under Smith-Enke Road.Officers responded and located a deceased male subject at that location.Maricopa Police detectives are currently conducting an investigation into the cause of death.
