PHOENIX - Rapper DMX has been placed on lockdown by sheriff's deputies and will only receive bread and water.

A press release from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office indicates DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was removed from Tent City on Sunday night and placed on lockdown for allegedly threatening to assault detention officers.

The rapper reportedly refused to report for work and became verbally abusive telling deputies "I already have a job and don't need this (expletive)."

DMX also failed to report for his medication and allegedly told officers he "might assault somebody to get some respect."

Sheriff Joe Arpaio says, ""DMX will be treated like any other prisoner in my jail and I will not tolerate him threatening my staff." The sheriff also ordered that DMX be placed on a special diet of only bread and water.
