Nash to sit out road preseason game against Nuggets due to ankle sprain

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash is expected to sit out tonight's preseason game against the Denver Nuggets at Syracuse University.

Nash suffered a mild right ankle sprain in the first half of .

Suns general manager Steve Kerr says the injury isn't serious, but the Suns won't take any chances with the two-time MVP.

Goran Dragic likely will start in place of Nash.

Third-string point guard Sean Singletary also will get a lot of playing time.

There's a chance that Leandro Barbosa could see some minutes for the first time in preseason.

Barbosa has missed all of training camp to be with his ailing mother in his native Brazil and just returned to the Suns three days ago.

Phoenix stands 2-2 on the preseason while the Nuggets are 3-0 i ncluding a win over the Suns last Saturday night in that outdoor game played in California.
