FLAGSTAFF -- The Taylor fire burning 22 miles southwest of Flagstaff has grown to 3,000 acres and is 10 percent contained.

Officials say 505 personnel are battling the fire from the ground and air.

Heavy smoke and falling ash will continue to impact local communities in the Flagstaff, Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona and the Verde Valley areas. Disruption of power supply and damage to the KV transmission line is a concern.

Forest Roads 231, 538 and 535 are closed. All trailheads leading into the southeastern portion of Sycamore Canyon are also closed.

The fire has the potential to move to the north in the vicinity of Turkey Butte and in the rugged terrain of Sycamore Canyon.
