QUEEN CREEK, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - Maricopa County sheriff's deputies arrested a Queen Creek teen accused of threatening to bomb his former high school.

The boy faces felony counts of threatening/hoaxing and interference of an educational institution. He is being held in the county juvenile jail. Since he is a juvenile, his name is not being released.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the teen posted the threat on a social media site in late February, causing Queen Creek High School to go on a five-hour lockdown on Feb. 25.

Several deputies, the K-9 unit and explosives experts were called in to search the campus. No devices were found.

Detectives later determined the threat came from an IP address associated with the teen.

"What this boy did is very serious in nature and it caused us to expend a lot of time and resources to investigate his crime," Arpaio said. "Though it was a so-called hoax, he needs to be held accountable for his actions."

Arpaio said the same boy is suspected of being involved with the killing of a coyote that was found hanging from a street light near an LDS church adjacent to the high school.
