Man and Chihuahua travel across nation to help veteran families

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - A man and his dog are taking a journey across America. The duo will travel for 12 months, 65,000 miles and 48 states on a motorcycle, and all for a good cause.

Adam Sandoval and his Chihuahua Scooter are driving across raising money for children and fallen soldiers.

"Scooter has been with me his whole life, he's been riding with me since he was born," Sandoval said. "He spreads smiles everywhere we go, and he helps raise awareness and attention to the project."

Sandoval and Scoot, for short, left their home in November with plans to hit 48 states and visit Harley dealerships in each one. Sandoval has a couple of sponsors, but he is mostly paying out of his own pocket for his expenses. He is asking for donations along his journey, and all of the money will go to the American Legion's Legacy Scholarship Foundation. So far, the duo has raised about $35,000.

You can help Scoot and Sandoval on their trip by stopping by Grand Canyon Harley Davidson tomorrow, or checking them out at Motorcycle on Main in Mesa today.
