Phoenix weather: Spring is in the air across the Valley

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX -- After the week kicked off with Valley rain, mountain snow and colder temperatures across Arizona, sunshine and warmer weather is making a comeback just in time for Cactus League Spring Training.

High pressure building in from the west kicks off a warming trend starting Thursday and continuing the beginning of next week.

Temperatures around metro Phoenix will be in the low 70's Thursday afternoon, the upper 70's Friday afternoon and the low 80's this weekend.

Lows Friday morning around the Valley will be in the 40's and warming to the low 50's Saturday morning.

The one caveat in our quiet weather pattern will be an area of low pressure expected to develop southeast of the state on Saturday. Some forecasting models bring a few showers across eastern and southeastern Arizona late Saturday afternoon. This may also slow our warming trend a bit this weekend.

By Tuesday, the afternoon high in Phoenix is expected to peak at around 85 degrees.
