One person was injured when an SUV crashed into a home on Monday morning.
It happened at approximately 6 a.m. near Guadalupe Road and Lindsay Road.
The 32-year-old female driver of the vehicle did not seem to have any serious injuries but was taken to a hospital as a precaution, according to Mike Connor with the Gilbert Fire Department.
Connor said the driver lives at a neighboring home and was backing out of her driveway when she lost control of the vehicle.
"The neighbor was backing out of her garage right across the street here," said Connor. "It's unknown why but as she was coming out of the garage she accelerated across the street went up the front yard of this house and luckily the last moment the car turned and that's where the car ended up."
The vehicle hit a light post, a mailbox and a tree before it careened across a walkway and hit a support post for an elevated front porch on the home.
Authorities have not said what caused the driver to lose control of the SUV.
Structural engineers were at the home to evaluate the damage.
