PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Phoenix police detectives arrested the ex-boyfriend of a woman found shot to death early Saturday afternoon.
The body of Shannon Leshin, 48, was found by her daughter and another woman, police said.
Police and fire personnel arriving in the area of 13200 N. 17th Ave. found Leshin in the home with lacerations to her upper body.
Her daughter and a woman living at the residence were forced to used an interior door key to open Leshin's bedroom door and found her body in a pool of blood on the floor before calling police.
Leshin was pronounced dead at the scene and detectives later determined she had been shot at close range with a shotgun.
A witness told police Leshin was last seen Friday afternoon. When the witness arrived at the home late Friday, Leshin's ex-boyfriend, Gary Michaels, 55, was there, said Phoenix police Officer James Holmes.
The witness said Leshin had recently broken off the relationship with Michaels but agreed to let him stay with them until he could find another residence.
Leshin's daughter and the witness said they saw Michaels late Friday, but did not hear any gunshots before finding Leshin's body the next morning, police said.
Detectives arrested Michaels and booked him into jail on a charge of premeditated first-degree murder.
