The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the motorcyclist who troopers said was struck by another biker on Interstate 15 near Sahara Avenue on Friday.
Medical examiners said Julius Gerald IV, 31, of Las Vegas, died of multiple blunt force injuries as a result of an accident.
Nevada Highway Patrol said the incident happened about 1:21 a.m. Friday on the northbound lanes of I-15 near Sahara Avenue.
Citing witnesses and evidence at the scene, NHP said Gerald was riding a black Honda bike to the left side of another motorcyclist in the left lane of the freeway.
The other motorcyclist lost control and struck the victim's bike on the right side, causing him to hit the center median and be thrown off, NHP said.
The victim came to rest in the travel lanes where he was then struck by a rear tire of a tractor-trailer.
The rider on the Honda bike died at the scene while the second motorcyclist fled, according to troopers.
NHP said it is looking for the biker involved in the incident. Troopers urged anyone who saw the incident or the fleeing motorcyclist to contact Nevada Highway Patrol at 702-432-5110.
