Columbia County deputies are investigating after someone broke into a car at an Augusta apartment complex and stole an iPhone and a checkbook.
The break-in happened sometime overnight between July 10 and 11 at Shenandoah Ridge apartments, which are located at 427 Blue Ridge Dr., according to a Columbia County Sheriff's Office incident report.
The victim said she was not sure if the vehicle was unlocked, but the responding deputy didn't see any signs of forced entry.
After reporting the stolen iPhone, the victim purchased a new iPhone and had the same phone number transferred. After she set up her new phone, pictures of people she didn't know appeared on her iCloud account.
Deputies are trying to identify the people in the photos because they may have committed the crime or may have knowledge about who committed the crime, according to the sheriff's office. Anyone with information can call the Columbia County Sheriff's Office at 706-541-4050.
