TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -

Tempe police are investigating a home invasion that ended with a 20-year-old pregnant woman being stabbed.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of Priest and Third Street.

The victim told CBS 5 News she was home with her fiance and a roommate when two men stormed into their apartment.

"The second we realized the guy was not someone we knew, we tried very hard to get them out," she said.

The woman said one of the men was armed with a knife and a baton-like weapon.

She said both went after her fiance, and one of them stabbed her in the leg when she tried to fight them off.

"It scared me," she said. "I was like, 'He stabbed me.' It was like more a shock than like crying or anything. I wasn't crying. I was more shocked that somebody actually stabbed me while I was pregnant."

She said the men left without taking anything and doesn't know what they were after.

But, police believe the men targeted the apartment because of the marijuana stashed inside.

Officers ended up arresting the woman's fiance after finding about a pound of pot in the apartment.

"When we have these types of crimes, we have to take into consideration that these people, although they are breaking the law with this amount of marijuana, not having a license, medical marijuana card - they're still victims," Lt. Mike Pooley said. "They're victims of a very violent crime."

But, the woman denies they were targeted for drugs and said the men never mentioned anything about pot during the attack.

"This was not a drug deal," she said. "There was no deal. The only deal was some dudes came into my home and attacked us."

Police said the victims described the suspects as white or Hispanic and wearing bandanas.

But, the woman told CBS 5 News both men were white – one of them was very tan and only one was wearing a bandana over his face.
