PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Phoenix police arrested a man after an overnight shooting at a Fry's grocery store near 19th and Glendale avenues that left one person wounded.

Police arrested Jevert Worthy, 21, and booked him into jail on charges of aggravated assault and for randomly discharging a firearm, Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos said.

Martos said Worthy is suspected of firing several shots after a fight between three people escalated outside the store's entrance just before 7 p.m. Sunday, a Phoenix Police Department spokesman said.

Witnesses said Worthy pulled a gun and fired at the other two people, hitting a 20-year-old man, the spokesman said.

That person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but no customers were hurt, Martos said.

Martos said the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, but witnesses were able to provide a license plate.
