Man shoots at police in Phoenix

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A south Phoenix man who shot at police finally gave himself up as officers closed in early Friday morning.

It all started with an off-duty officer reporting someone spray-painting graffiti. The suspect then reportedly shot at the cop near 15th Avenue and Southern.

The man holed up in a nearby house all morning and finally gave up.

"It was very peaceful. Everything resolved itself the way it was supposed to. We did our job and they came out with nobody getting hurt on either side. And what happens now? Next steps? Detectives will interview them, do a search for weapons and then it'll proceed from there depending on what's said," said Phoenix Police Department spokesman Lt. Ed Decastro.
