Glendale police have identified a teenager who was shot and killed in a struggle that left another man wounded at an apartment complex Sunday.

The victim is 18-year-old Elijah Williams, who was later pronounced dead at a Valley hospital. Another man, also 18, was wounded and is reported in stable condition.

Police investigators are still trying to unravel what occurred. Police believe a group of people who are acquaintances and reside in the complex at 6500 West Olive were arguing over an ongoing dispute, Glendale police Sgt. Jay O'Neill said.

At some point during the altercation, several people displayed weapons and began firing at one another, O'Neill said. Police believe that Williams fired a weapon striking the 18-year-old man who is still hospitalized, and 24-year-old Tyron Moore fired a weapon striking and killing Williams, O'Neill said.

Moore was taken into custody and interviewed by investigators. He was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail Monday morning on one count of misconduct with weapons.

He was also booked on a felony warrant out of California for a parole violation related to sex crimes. Further charges are pending.

Investigators said they still have several interviews to conduct. They are working with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office to determine what charges to be filed in Williams' death.
