Victim ID's suspect in line-up before his deathPosted: Updated:
The victim in a Phoenix shooting last month was able to identify a suspect in police's photo line-up and help put him behind bars before the victim died, officers said.
Phoenix police said the victim was shot in the leg at 4035 W. Mesquite Lane on June 12 in a fight with William Jones, 21, and William Robison III, 30.
Police found messages on the victim's Facebook from Jones that said he wanted to fight him.
On July 29, the victim identified Jones in the photo line-up and later died from his injuries.
Detectives learned the other suspect was Jones' cousin, Robison and he was positively identified by two separate witnesses.
The suspects were interviewed and Jones said once the fist fight ended, he heard two to three gunshots and turned to see Robison holding a gun and the victim running.
Robison told police he wasn't involved and was in Chicago at the time.
Robison was arrested on one count of second-degree murder, weapon possession, aggravated assault and firing a firearm in the city limit.
