Tucson treatment center to pay $2,000 finePosted: Updated:
A Tucson treatment center has agreed to pay a fine related to a patient's suicide.
The Arizona Daily Star reported (http://bit.ly/1nGKjq9) Wednesday that Sierra Tucson will pay the state $2,000.
According to the agreement, which was signed May 27, the facility says the payment is not an admission of any wrongdoing.
The Arizona Department of Health Services fined Sierra Tucson for violating four regulations, including not updating a resident's assessment information.
A Pima County autopsy report says a resident who died in January had hung himself. According to state records, the patient suffered from depression and was at risk of harming himself.
The report found he wasn't reassessed after threatening to kill himself.
The 160-acre facility treats people for addiction and mood and eating disorders.
