PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A Glendale jogger has died after she was struck by a car on Beardsley Road early Friday morning.
Alisha Church, 43, of Glendale, was jogging with a friend in the 7400 block of W. Beardsley Road about 5:20 a.m. when she was struck by a passing gray sedan near 75th Avenue, said Glendale Police Officer Tracey Breeden.
The driver, a 42-year-old Peoria man, stayed at the scene, Glendale Police Sgt. Jay O'Neill said.
Church, the wife of a Phoenix police officer and mother of four, was flown to a nearby hospital where she died, O'Neill said.
Investigators do not believe speed was a factor. However they have not yet determined if impairment or distraction were factors in the collision, Breeden said.
Tracey Breeden with Glendale Police said friends and family have been reaching out to them throughout the day.
"They've spoken so highly of Alisha and talked about the positive impact she's had on our community," Breeden said.
If you'd like to donate to Church's family, an account at Comerica Bank has been set up, called the "Alisha Church Memorial Fund."
