Police in Phoenix have made an arrest in the death of a 26-year-old woman.
James Calderon, 27, was booked Saturday afternoon in the killing of 26-year-old Bria Helpley.
Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos said Calderon's 46-year-old mother, Sandra Calderon, has been arrested on charges of hindering prosecution and for allegedly attempting to destroy evidence.
"We were in the process of locating James when we discovered the mother was walking away with a bag of clothing which was ultimately James' clothing," said Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos.
Police said it was the same clothes James was wearing when he allegedly shot and killed Helpley.
Helpley and James Calderon got into some kind of heated argument after a night of drinking near Monroe and 14th streets, Martos said.
Police say there was one witness to the crime and he didn't call police at first. As of now, he's not being charged.
