Federal officers in southern Arizona uncovered and seized four tons of marijuana found hidden in a semitrailer attempting to enter the U.S.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Nogales referred a 30-year-old man from Nogales, Sonora, Mexico for additional inspection of the vehicle he was driving.
After a CBP narcotics detection dog alerted to the presence of drugs in the trailer, officers said.
Officers said they removed and seized 298 bales of marijuana worth more than $4 million.
The driver was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
