Road work returned to I-91 northbound in the Wethersfield area Tuesday.
The state Department of Transportation said this time crews were patching potholes between exits 24 in Wethersfield and 29 in Hartford.
It said the left two lanes were closed.
Kevin Nursik of the DOT said it was different work than the milling that congested the highway back on Feb. 28.
Drivers then were advised to avoid I-91 north in Rocky Hill while workers blocked three lanes to mill 2,500 feet of road.
That created a traffic backup that extended several miles even after the work was completed.
The DOT said it expected the work Tuesday to last four hours or less.
